London Mayor Sadiq Khan hasn’t given up on the WWE.

In an interview with CNBC’s Tania Bryer he continued to the lobby the WWE to hold WrestleMania in London.

“Triple H if you’re watching, we want WrestleMania to come to London,” he said addressing the Chief Content Officer (CCO) directly.

Khan explained that if WrestleMania touched down in London for the first time it would be a win for wrestling all over the world.

“If WrestleMania came to London, my message to the team there is that we wouldn’t just have a great weekend, we’d have a festival, of you know, legends in WrestleMania coming to London, current stars, but also future stars as a well,” Khan said.

Khan called London the “sporting capital of the world” and that WrestleMania would fit in well with all the other prestigious events that are held there.

Though the UK as a whole has hosted many WWE events WrestleMania has never been staged there.

Perhaps the most notable event was SummerSlam in 1992 which brought in over 80,000 fans to Wembley Stadium.
