After last week’s match with LA Knight, Jacob Fatu confronted Solo Sikoa and his newest recruit, JC Mateo, about handling business with the US title with or without the inclusion of the Bloodline. I thought his name was Jeff Cobb… Am I the only one who’s lost?? Anyway, Sikoa informed Fatu that helping him retain his Championship within illicit ways was because he loves him. He even emoted it in the same tone that Jacob used to do towards the Tribal Heir at one point.
And speaking of loving one another, Solo practically begged Jacob to say he loves him in the same tone he did in the past, but he didn’t. It was a strange feeling since I think we can all see that Fatu is gaining an autonomy away from Sikoa. But before anything intriguing could take place, LA Knight’s music interrupted as he went for Mateo after he jumped him at Backlash.
Alexa Bliss vs. Michin vs. Chelsea Green – Women’s Triple Threat Money in the Bank Qualifying match
Given how much of a nuisance Chelsea Green tends to be, Michin and Alexa momentarily aligned to dispose of her repeatedly. I don’t know what the hell happened for Bliss and Michin to think for even a second that alliances truly last in Triple Treat matches, but that cost them when Green suicide dived onto them. Later on, Michin was leading the attack in her favor, nearly pinning his opponents.
Alexa made a comeback by reversing an attempt on her with a DDT to Michin. She had Michin with Twisted Bliss if weren’t for a second obstacle in the name of Chelsea Green. She hit the I’m Prettier, yet Bliss pulled Michin from behind while Chelsea wasn’t looking. Too busy prematurely celebrating like a damn fool. Hence Bliss winning with Sister Abigail.
Winner: Alexa Bliss
I’m still in a state of bafflement when I heard that R-Truth was attacked by John Cena at the Backlash post-show, so when Wade Barrett was interviewing him about that topic, Truth spoke in a hypnotic way, as if he hasn’t registered what happened, that he isn’t aware of the current Cena we’re witnessing now. Barrett was confused, but Truth was adamant to speak his, well, truth. He’s looking to beat some sense into John at Saturday Night’s Main Event since he believed that this version of Cena is fake.
DIY vs. Fraxiom – Tag Team match
In the corner, Johnny Gargano was trying to fend Nathan Frazer off from superplexing him, Tommaso provided a little distraction, albeit unwillingly, as Frazer jumped back on the ropes to initiate the move he wanted to do prior. He and Axiom play a double team on Gargano, which resulted in a failure due to Ciampa’s massive running knee to the face of Axiom. Damn… that looked like a train wreak.
Johnny and Axiom were brawling it out in the middle of the ring. Axiom did temporarily well dodging Gargano, but that quick kick to the face rattled him like crazy. Luckily, Axiom hurriedly transferred into a submission hold that only lasted a few seconds until Ciampa tried to remove his mask. Thankfully, Nathan was back in the fold. Johnny came out of nowhere and kicked Frazer. As a last stint, Axiom surprised Gargano was a tremendously well executed pin for the victory.
That didn’t sit well with the opposition. Ciampa and Gargano were later met with Motor City Machine Guns.
Winners: Fraxiom
Although Drew McIntyre has shown signs of having a Damian Priest obsession, he’s convinced that behavior lies within Priest instead since he continued to get himself involved in Drew’s business for the last couple of months. The Scottish Warrior believed that Damian’s circling around is due to jealously… Ha! The words of a delusional man. I can’t with this… Nevertheless, he accepted Priest’s challenge for a Steel Cage match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Carmelo Hayes vs. Aleister Black
After his match with Black ending in a disqualification, Hayes was fuming for a rematch… only to run into a big boot by the very man he wanted to destroy. While Aleister was looking to Moonsault on Carmelo, The Miz took the initiative to toss his friend back into the ring. Hayes couldn’t nail him following that neck breaker.
Miz was like a squawking bird on your window seal, telling Hayes to go up top for Nothing but Net, however, the sideline conversation distracted Melo as Black delivered a painfully loud spinning back elbow. So, Hayes retaliated with a Code Breaker. Alas, Black was too strong. In more ways than one as he was lining Hayes for Black Mass, yet Miz intercepted after being shoved earlier. He got knocked out for his troubles, so Hayes dealt with him with Nothing but Net.
Winner: Disqualification
Jimmy Uso vs. Rey Fenix vs. Solo Sikoa – Men’s Triple Treat Money in the Bank Qualifying match
Jimmy was holding his own well against Fenix, but he eventually got kicked off by Adios Amigos. Which is why he shocked Rey when Jimmy connected with a spear when he was seemingly looking like baked potatoes, well and done. Ha! Things get even funnier when Fatu attempted to assist Solo only for Jimmy to send him in the other direction. This allowed Sikoa to deliver the Samoan Spike to his throat. Fenix saw an opening and crushed Solo with Adios Amigos. It went downhill from there since Fenix wasted time admiring his work, so Solo capitalized with a conclusive Samoan Spike to advance.
Winner: Solo Sikoa
LA Knight vs. JC Mateo
Despite how aggressive Mateo has shown himself to be, LA Knight was ruining his debut in the early goings of the match. At some point, JC managed to even the playing field by tossing Knight outside. Since body slamming Knight inside the ring didn’t keep him down, he hoped the standing Moonsault would. Only slight.
Unfortunately, Knight’s minor delay to jump Mateo was because he foolishly put his focus elsewhere. By the time Knight came back, JC was well rested as he delivered the final Tour of Islands to end the Megastar.
Winner: JC Mateo
Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Nia Jax – WWE Women’s Championship match
Stratton was doing her best dodging and blocking Jax’s attacks, yet Nia has proven to be quite the challenge over the past several months since returning. Better than her old self, I must say. She ploughed through Tiffy twice already. Jax went as far as to squish Stratton’s head between her hips and the post. Oof. Anytime Tiffy might have some leeway, Jax destroys it completely.
From the second rope, Jax dismantled the Champion with a huge Samoan Drop that nearly granted her the victory. Stratton retaliated by getting out of harm’s way with the hip attack, then decided to push the momentum with a baseball slide. Nia even got sent into the post head first by a Hurricane Rana. Tiffy almost retained her title after that flying body slam.
Just as Stratton was looking for the Alabama Slam, Jax countered the attempt with two powerbombs and a leg drop that didn’t go anywhere. Tiffany definitely sucked the shock out of Nia when she reversed a powerslam attempt in mid-air for a near fall. Things were already getting worst for wear, but Naomi’s sudden appearance made them somber.
She came out here with a chair with the intent to call her shot, yet Jade Cargill hasn’t said her final word after last week, so she stormed her ass on out to woman-handle Naomi on their way backstage. Meanwhile, Nia became the first woman to kick out of Stratton’s rib-crushing Prettiest Moonsault that has put many on the shelf.
For revenge, Nia wreaked Tiffany for all its worth, then shattered her ribcage when the Annihilator nearly failed, but Stratton was close enough to the bottom rope to grab it. Because of this, Jax had almost walked away with the title. She came back after tossing the belt over to distract the official while she got hold of the chair Naomi brought and planned to use it, only Tiffy was up and drop kicked her in the face and retained.
Winner: Tiffany Stratton
