NWA Powerrr: Hard Times for tag teams and Big Strong Mims

The Crockett Cup is on everyone’s minds in the National Wrestling Alliance, and four teams want the coveted number two slot. Among the teams are The Immortals, former NWA US Tag Team Champions Daisy Kill and Talos, former NWA Tag Team Champions Blunt Force Trauma, and the newcomers in The Colóns. Plus, in the main event, Wrecking Ball Legursky is stepping more into singles action as he attempts to vie for the NWA National Championship, held by Big Strong Mims.

Everyone here is ready to face Hard Times in Dothan, AL, for this signature event for the NWA.

Before we head to the ring, members of the NWA are attending an HR sensitivity training to receive positive attention from their fellow wrestlers. Markova is paired with Gaagz the Gymp, AJK Cazana is paired with Hunter, and because someone did not read the room, Bryan Idol is paired with “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason.  They start with Markova to say something nice to Gaagz, and after a moment, she says his shirt is nice.  When it’s time for Gaagz to speak, he first touches her hair (a no-no, because of boundaries).  He’s prompted to use his words, and he unzips the mask, and the HR people decide to wisely move on.

AJ Cazana and Hunter have trouble connecting.  While Hunter compliments his hat, Cazana positively notes his shirt is way too big for him.

Now, Mason and Bryan Idol have a turn. Idol says he likes his shirt because it reads “Idol” but hates that below that it’s written “Sucks Eggs.”  Mason positively affirms that he likes the fact that Idol can read, and it goes downhill from there.  As both men stare face to face, Mason promises that come Hard Times, his mediocrity will come to an end. Idol is positive he’s wrong, and allow me an…

(Author’s Note:  Having gone through HR, I can positively say this felt like a lot of those meetings.  I’d love to get into specifics, but my attorney has warned me not to do that, lest I feel like getting subpoenaed.  Since that is not the case…)

We come to you from the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, AL, for the Hard Times signature event. Joe Galli, Billy Corgan, and Danny Dealz have the call. Your First Match of the Night kicks off with tag team action with…

The Immortals (Odinson and Kratos) vs. Blunt Force Trauma (Carnage and Damage) vs. Daisy Kill and Talos vs. The Colóns (Primo and Epico)

This is an elimination match as all four teams vie for the coveted number two spot in the upcoming Crockett Cup.  No Aron Stevens at ringside for Blunt Force Trauma, as he is recovering from last week.  Also…

(Author’s Footnote:  I covered this in a recent Mat Matters.  If ya wanna see what happened, here it is)

And now you know the rest of the story.

Moving along, Kill and Damage start the match, and he and Carnage inflict the Trauma on the self-proclaimed Rockstar.  He fights out and hits a DDT on Carnage for a two count.  A tag to Talos, and he lands a mighty chop to his chest, followed by a big boot.  A blind tag by Epico brings him in, but Carnage gets back on track with his offense.  Upset, Talos blinds tags in as Blunt Force Trauma set for a superplex, and then he comes from behind, and it is a Tower of Doom for all four men with the big man standing tall(er) than the competition.  Kratos gets in and kicks him out, and then gives a powerslam to Kill, followed by slams to Carnage.  As he rushes into a back elbow, Kratos manages to counter with a flapjack to Damage.  Now, everyone is out of the ring, and Kratos launches from the squared circle to the floor and stage dives on all the men.  This brings out Stevens limping in a sling and a crutch and then…

Ads (Eh, they’re short this week.  So they get a pass)

We come back, and Kratos is on a tear with clotheslines aplenty, until Carnage tags in and he hits a flying clothesline.  Now he works over Kill and props him up for Stevens to nail him with the crutch. He ducks, and Carnage gets the worst of it, and Kill takes advantage with a roll-up to eliminateBlunt Force Trauma.  That brings in Odinson with an Asgardian Pounce for a cover, and Kill and Talos are quickly eliminated.  That leaves The Immortals and The Colóns, as Kratos and Odinson focus on their tag chemistry. Kratos covers, and Primo pulls him off at the last second from Epico.  Kratos hits the ropes, and he trips him up with a drop toe hold to the middle ropes, and The Colóns capitalize and almost get a near fall.  Primo just can’t put away The Most Feared even with a neckbreaker to no avail.  Still, The Colóns cut the ring in half, and Kratos is in Peril.  A legdrop misses the mark, and he crawls to his corner for a hot tag to Odinson, and he is an Asgardian en Fuego.  The Immortals set up for their finisher on Primo, until Epico knocks Odinson off the top rope.  Primo grabs the crutch Stevens dropped earlier, but the ref catches him red-handed.  He attempts to pull away the foreign object but gets hit himself.  In the confusion, Primo mule kicks Odinson, uses the crutch on his neck and gives him a backstabber.  As Epico wakes up the ref, he makes the three count, and therefore…

Your Winners and the Number Two Contenders in The Crockett Cup:  The Colóns

The new president of the NWA Territory System, Joe Cazana, is talking to a guy at a Dothan TV station who’s never heard of the NWA or wrestling in general (and he should be fired on general principle).  Then we meet with the host of a daytime show, Chelsea, and they’ll be talking more about it very shortly.

But let’s head back to the ring as we get singles competition between…

Crazzy Steve vs. Damian Fenrir

This is his debut in the NWA, as the longtime TNA member decided to wrestle in other promotions.  As for Fenrir, he is alive and well after taking the most amazing powerbomb from Talos a few weeks ago.

Don’t believe me?  Watch this.

Anyway, Fenrir finds out firsthand why Steve is considered “Crazzy,” but his technical mastery of a nice standing dropkick gives him the edge, as he lights up Steve’s chest with chops.  He mounts with punches, and Steve bites Fenrir’s leg.  He rushes into the corner, and Fenrir jumps over and nails a back elbow.  Steve goes for a suplex, and Fenrir counters with a delayed vertical suplex to a floatover for a two count, and then locks him in an abdominal stretch.  He manages to hip toss the upstart and then gives Fenrir a snapmare and uses his ankles to torque his neck.  He gets Fenrir in a hanging headscissors choke using the ropes.  He breaks off just before the five count by the ref, and then shoulder tackles for a count of two.  Fenrir just cannot match the unorthodox offense of Steve as he trips him and tries to fishhook his mouth. Fenrir escapes, but Steve finally comes back and cinches the fishhook/body scissors, and Fenrir taps out.

Your Winner via Submission: Crazzy Steve

Now we’re at the TV Station where “Dothan Today” is broadcast with host Chelsea talking to The Cazanas and “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason. Papa Joe notes that Dothan produces the best peanuts in the world. He also has big news as he is the NWA president of the territories, but is still focused on peanuts, despite Chelsea’s best efforts to move it along.  Joe suggests she come to the Dothan Civic Center to roll with the boys, and Chelsea, clearly uncomfortable, decides to toss it to the weather.

Joe asks if they can redo the segment, only to discover it was live and can’t do it again.  Mason goes off on Chelsea, as Papa Joe bemoans that it just wasn’t good and he wished for another take.

Remember, folks:  Always make sure if it’s live or taped.

Now for your Main Event, and it is for the…

NWA National Championship: Big Strong Mims(with BLK Jeez)(c) vs. Wrecking Ball Legursky

Legursky is now being billed as America’s Favorite Heavyweight as he is distancing himself from his former tag partner, Jay Bradley.

The bell rings, and Legursky overpowers Mims, showing him who is Big and Strong in this match.  He shoulder tackles the champ, then gives Mims an atomic drop, followed by jabs and a windup, and Legursky lands the knockout punch.  He continues with a scoop and slam, and Jeez grabs Legursky’s ankle, but gets pulled into the ring.  The distraction allows Mims to send him out, but pulls him outside the ring, and they proceed to brawl.  Mims shoves him into the post and throws Legursky to the steps, and then…

Ads (still gonna give it a pass, as it was one ad)

We come back, and Mims is in control, slapping him around.  Legursky tries to fire up, but Mims keeps him down and clubs his chest.  He cinches in a headlock to wear down the big man, yet Legursky fires back up.  He picks up Mims, who ends up raking his eyes, and he connects with a knee to Legursky’s jaw.  A splash and a cover get Mims a two count.  Legursky gets him in a goozle, but Mims counters with a DDT for another two count.  He punches his head and blatantly chokes Legursky.  Between him and Jeez, the numbers are not in Legursky’s favor.  A head butt dazes the challenger.  While Mims preens for the Dothan crowd, pleased with his actions, he does not see Legursky, behind him, fuming, and he returns the receipt.  He follows with open palm strikes, and then gives Mims a massive hip toss, and then a hip attack in the corner.  Jeez is on the apron to distract again.  Legursky takes a swipe and misses Jeez, then turns to Mims, who gives him a shot to the throat.  Then a masked fan comes in and clocks a dazed Legursky with some kind of weapon, and Mims delivers a lariat that ends it in one, two, and three.

Your Winner via Pinfall and Still NWA National Champion:  Big Strong Mims

After the match, the fan unmasks as Jay Bradley.  He has a chain and proceeds to punch his former tag partner with the chain before whipping him with it. Refs tried to pull him off and send him to the back as the show comes to a close.
